MONTREAL – The Alouettes announced on Wednesday that the club has signed import linebacker Diamond Ferri to a new two-year deal.
Ferri (5’10”, 204 lbs.), is back in Montreal after spending the first five seasons of his CFL career with the Alouettes from 2007 to 2011. While in Montreal, he appeared in a total of 76 games, amassing 240 defensive tackles — including nine quarterback sacks. He also contributed on special teams, racking up 24 special teams tackles over that same span.
“Great to have the Swiss Army Knife back in the fold,” said Alouettes General Manager and Head Coach Jim Popp. “Diamond is by far one of the most versatile players in the league. We welcome him home.”
The 32-year-old was also called on a few occasions to return kickoffs where he gained 866 yards on 39 returns while scoring one touchdown with Montreal.
During his five years with the Alouettes, Ferri helped Montreal win back-to-back Grey Cup championships in 2009 and in 2010.
Most recently, he signed with the Saskatchewan Roughriders where he also won the 101st Grey Cup last November.
