MONTREAL – The Alouettes announced on Tuesday the signing of import cornerback Laron Scott to a three-year deal with the club.
Scott (5’9’’, 184 lbs.) signed with the New York Giants during the 2012 NFL pre-season and remained on the club’s practice roster for the entire campaign. The 26-year-old made his NFL pre-season debut against the Arizona Cardinals on August 5 of that same year, before recording a late fourth-quarter interception opposite the New England Patriots on August 29.
Over a three-year collegiate career with the Georgia Southern University Eagles, Scott tallied 12 interceptions while maintaining a 27.5-yard average on 83 kickoff returns.
In 2011, the Stone Mountain, GA native set a school record with a 30.6-yard kickoff return average on the season. He also blocked two kicks during the year.
