Bits & Bytes: Day 2 of Mini-Camp

MontrealAlouettes.com

VERO BEACH, FL – The intensity continued to rise at mini-camp while the temperatures dropped on Wednesday, for Day 2 of practice at Historic Dodgertown in Vero Beach, FL.

The team’s offensive and defensive units met for over three hours on the field, similar to a typical practice from full training camp — only without the equipment.

To date, the offence has held the edge over defence in one-on-ones, with receivers — notably Brandon London for a second day in a row — making spectacular grabs over defending DBs.

“When we broke Montreal last season and I went back to L.A., I went straight to work. Working out hard, running routes and doing different things just to get my body right and make that sure I would be 100% healthy,” revealed London. “Now I just can’t wait for the season to start.”

STACKED CORPS

London wasn’t the only Alouettes receiver to show off his sure hands on Wednesday, as S.J. Green, David Clowney, Ismael Bamba, Duron Carter, and Chad Johnson all made a series of tough catches during the morning session.

FLYING SOLO

Centre Luc Brodeur-Jourdain is the only Alouettes lineman at camp, after flying out to Florida to practice his snapping with the new and second-year QBs.

ALL IN THE FAMILY

Alouettes parents who have stopped by the Historic Dodgertown practice field since mini camp began on Tuesday include linebacker Nicolas Boulay’s mom and dad, kicker Delbert Alvarado’s pops, and Jamaan Webb’s father.

SPRING CHILL

Although not quite the deep freeze that hit parts of Quebec on Wednesday, conditions for Day 2 of mini-camp in Florida were grey, windy and cold.

TOMORROW

The third and final day of mini camp kicks off tomorrow at 8:55 a.m.
