TC14: Day 1 by the numbers

LENNOXVILLE – After a 202-day off-season, the Alouettes were finally back on the field Sunday for Day 1 of training camp. Here’s a numerical breakdown of what went down.
 

26 – Degrees Celsius on the campus of Bishop’s University in Sherbrooke, QC for the opening day of training camp, as even Mother Nature brought her A-game on Day 1.

160 – Kilometres separating the Alouettes’ permanent headquarters at Montreal’s Olympic Stadium and their training camp digs at Bishop’s University.
 

200 – Plus fans who were undeterred by the early-morning trek, making it out to the Eastern Townships for the opening day festivities.
 

4 – Number of legs on Rocky, the day’s furriest Alouettes fan.

 

50 – Youth football players from the local Sherbrooke Bulldogs teams who got to hop onto the field post-practice to help out with player introductions.

 

87 – Alouettes hopefuls on the field Sunday, rookies and veterans alike, competing for a spot on the 2014 roster.

 

5 – Number of QBs in uniform, including local CIS invitee Jérémi Roch from the Sherbrooke Vert et Or, who got the chance to learn the ropes from Troy Smith and Alouettes OC Rick Worman during practice.
 

2 – Months ahead of schedule towards a full recovery for Alouettes slotback Jamel Richardson.

 

27 – Roster moves already made prior to the start of Sunday’s first official practice.
