LENNOXVILLE – The Alouettes were scheduled to hold their penultimate day of back-to-back practices on Monday, but head coach Tom Higgins had other plans following the morning workout.
With his players huddled around the 55-yardline, the first-year Alouettes coach announced that the day’s second practice would be replaced with a pool workout — immediately becoming the most popular man on campus.
“They deserve this,” explained Higgins. “The intensity was good this morning and this is the right thing to do.”
With the exception of this Wednesday, June 11, the Alouettes will now practice only once a day until training camp breaks on June 19.
Rapid fire
For a second-consecutive day, Université de Montréal head coach Danny Maciocia attended Alouettes practice in the company of several members of his coaching staff… The team spent a good portion of Monday practising special teams… Receiver Chad Johnson is proving he can still do it all, as he was seen returning kicks during the morning practice… Brandon London made a highlight-reel catch when he leaped over teammate Billy Parker to snag a high pass… A few plays earlier, London bobbled the ball which was eventually intercepted by Jamaan Webb.
Transactions
Before hitting the field, the Alouettes added linebacker Stephon Robertson out of James Madison to the roster. Linebacker Carmen Messina was released.
Tomorrow
The Alouettes will be on Coulter Field starting from 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday, as they partake in a single practice on the campus of Bishop’s University.
