TC14: Day 11 Report

LENNOXVILLE – The return of dry weather meant the Alouettes were back outdoors at Coulter Field on the campus of Bishop’s University on Day 11, a day after being forced to practice indoors at the Gaiters gymnasium on Tuesday.

Alouettes receivers appeared glad to be back out on the open field on Wednesday, holding an offensive clinic of sorts during the morning practice. Chad Johnson, for starters, caught a long Tanner Marsh pass in the end zone with his back to the ball while making it look easy.

Quarterback Alex Brink and receiver Duron Carter meanwhile hooked up on a handful of long plays that resulted in Carter reaching the end zone, including a 70-yard catch-and-run play. Carter’s cousin Kenny Stafford also made an outstanding catch while falling to his knees and Brandon London impressed as well, making one difficult grab in particular.

On the other side of the ball, where the defence excelled was in forcing the Alouettes quarterbacks out of the pocket, notably getting to Collin Klein while he was behind centre, although the latter tucked the ball in and tried gaining the first down on his legs, something the former Heisman Trophy finalist is familiar with as he rushed for 2,455 yards in his two seasons as the starting quarterback for the Kansas State University Wilcats.
