During the camp’s final practice, the team focused on its play in the red zone and the offence looked sharp as Duron Carter made a one-handed grab on a would-be scoring play before Troy Smith hit rookie Preston Cleckley with another in traffic.

Quick hits

Receiver Dave Stala, who started the day in the body shop, re-joined his teammates later on and made a pair of nice catches — including one which he was able to run all the way to the end zone… Chased down by four defensive players following a snap, quarterback Troy Smith scrambled for several seconds before launching a rocket pass into the sure hands of Chad Johnson… Receiver Brandon London continued to make catches on Wednesday, except on one play which saw Billy Parker follow him like a shadow, breaking up the pass… Head coach Tom Higgins announced that he intends to use kicker Delbert Alvarado during the first half of Friday’s pre-season game… Sean Whyte will take his place in the second half.
