“100 games already? Time definitely does fly!”
Friday night in Edmonton, Luc Brodeur-Jourdain will don an Alouettes uniform for the 100th time in his CFL career.
We sat down and talked to Alouettes great Anwar Stewart about his transition from player to coach.

In the last few CFL seasons, the Alouettes have repeatedly beaten the Edmonton Eskimos. For 4 straight seasons between 2010 and 2013, Montreal swept the season series between the two teams. Furthermore, the Alouettes have won 8 of their last 9 games versus the Eskimos.
Earlier this year, Edmonton finally put an end to that losing streak versus Montreal. There’s still another one going though. The Eskimos have lost the last 4 times the Alouettes visited Edmonton. It seems that the home comfort is not as present in the Western division. No team of this division has a better record at home than on the road in 2014. That means that in order to win on Friday night, the Eskimos will have change 2 trends.
Opposite directions
With one glance at the record of both teams, you’d think that the Eskimos are the better team but the last 2 weeks have told something else. Edmonton lost their last 2 games while the Alouettes have won their last two matchups. The Alouettes even did it with style as in their last 3 games, they scored more points than they did the week before.
The Alouettes also seem to have an advantage when you look at the career record of the two starting quarterback, Matt Nichols and Jonathan Crompton. Nichols, who replaces Mike Reilly sidelined with a thumb injury, has a career record of 0-4 while Jonathan Crompton won his first two CFL starts. Facing the team that brought him in the CFL, he’ll try to get to 3-0.
It ain’t over till the fat lady sings
Last week, the Alouettes overcame the biggest deficit in order to win of the 2014 CFL season when they beat the Hamilton Tiger-Cats 38 to 31 after falling behind by 2 touchdowns early in the game.
It was Montreal’s biggest comeback since the 39-38 win against the British-Columbia Lions on August 22nd 2013. That was the game that put Tanner Marsh under the spotlight for the first time. Marsh seems to have a flair for big comebacks as the quarterback had two rushing touchdowns in Week 11 versus Hamilton.
2 Alouettes fled over the CFL in Week 11
International defensive end Gabriel Knapton had a good game against the Hamilton Tiger-Cats. He registered 3 quarterback sacks during the game. That was the highest total of Week 11 in the CFL. It was also the 2nd best game of the season for an Alouette as far as sacks are concerned. Only John Bowman did better when he had 4 sacks against the Lions in Week 2.
Bear Woods also distinguished himself during Hamilton’s visit in Montreal. The linebacker recorded 10 defensive tackles against the Tiger-Cats. No players had as many tackles during Week 11 in the CFL.
- S.J. Green is 45 receiving yards away from 5000 in his career with the Alouettes.
- Brandon Whitaker is 14 carries away from his 600th with Montreal.
- John Bowman is 2 sacks away from getting his 80th career sack in the CFL
- Brandon London needs 88 receiving yards to get to 2000 with the Alouettes.
