Anthony Calvillo will take his rightful place among the greatest in Montreal Alouettes history in the heights of Percival Molson Memorial Stadium. Attend the withdrawal of the famous number 13 during the game between the Alouettes with the Saskatchewan Roughriders, Monday, Oct. 13.

John Bowman, a forced fumbles machine
Since the start of the CFL season, no player has forced more fumbles than John Bowman. The Alouettes defensive end managed to strip the ball from the hands of opposing players 5 times in 2014. This is a new skill that was bettered this year and it just cements him as a complete defensive player.
This comes in a year in which Bowman could make another mark in the record books. He only needs 3 quarterbacks sacks to enter the CFL top 20 of all-time. He’s currently sitting at 79 sacks. That means that his next sack will allow him to become only the 21st player to get to 80 sacks in his CFL career.
Sean Whyte, Mr September
Sean Whyte put the ball between the uprights the last 22 times he tried to. 10 of those kicks were field goals. That’s the last type of kick he missed. It was on August 22nd in a game versus the Winnipeg Blue Bombers. He has a 5 games streak in which he hasn’t missed a kick and Alouettes fans hope he can make it 6 on Monday.
During this streak, Whyte became the 29th best scorer in the history of the CFL. He’ll now try to get to Matt Kellett who’s currently sitting in 28th place with 799 career points. Whyte is currently trailing by 33 points thanks to his 766 points. Kellett (98) and Whyte (80) are the only two members of the top 30 that haven’t played at least a 100 games in their career.
Bear Woods, a deserving defensive player of the month
The Alouettes kicker isn’t the only player who shined during the month of September. The international linebacker Bear Woods fully took advantage of his opportunity in Noel Thorpe’s defense during the 4 games of September.
In 3 of those 4 games, Woods registered 9 defensive tackles or more. He also recorded 3 quarterback sacks and a forced fumble in those matchups. This performance allowed him to win the title of defensive player of the month in September. He also deserved the honour during 2 weeks in the month.
Brandon Whitaker, the first to 700 yards
In the Alouettes last game, international running back Brandon Whitaker became the first to get to 700 rushing yards in the CFL this year. Before Week 16, Whitaker is 2nd in rushing yards in the CFL trailing only Calgary’s Jon Cornish. On Monday, he’ll try to increase his 20 yards lead on Saskatchewan’s Anthony Allen who’s currently sitting in 3rd place in the league.
Milestones to watch for on Monday
-
Duron Carter’s next catch will be his 100th with the Montreal Alouettes.
-
John Bowman’s next quarterback sack will make him the 21st player in CFL history to get to 80 career sacks.
-
Brandon London needs 65 receiving yards to get to 2000 career yards.

In collaboration with Budweiser and le Dindon du Québec, the west end-zone at Percival Molson Memorial Stadium will be better known as a party zone by Alouettes fans this season!
Beginning when the stadium doors open at 5:30 p.m., the area will be transformed into an open fan zone, allowing supporters to converge in an electric atmosphere from pre-game until the final whistle.
REMINDER: Please note that the north entrance to the west end-zone will now close 10 minutes before kick-off until 5 minutes following the final whistle. During the game, access to the west end-zone will be limited to the south entrance only.
Once again this season, starting two hours before kick-off, Alouettes cheerleaders, alumni, and players, as well as team mascot Touché will be on-site outside of Percival Molson Memorial Stadium’s east entrance to sign autographs, take photos, and mingle with fans.
Already backed by some of the loudest supporters in the CFL, a drumline meanwhile will be adding to the aural ambiance, and major team sponsors will also be doing their part to keep things festive.
Vote for the belairdirect Protector of the Game!
The belairdirect Protector of the Game trophy is awarded to the Alouettes player who has distinguished himself by protecting his team against their opponents.
Examples include:
• Protecting the running back with an important block leading to a big play on the ground;
• Catching an interception in the end zone;
• Protecting the quarterback from a sack;
After each game, Alouettes fans can vote on who among the three players nominated by Pierre Vercheval should win the trophy.
The official belairdirect Protector of the Game trophy will be presented to the winning player during every home game, on the field following warm-ups.
