MONTREAL – The Montreal Alouettes announced on Wednesday that the club has added national fullback Samuel Fournier as well as national receiver Ismaël Bamba to the practice roster.
Fournier (6’0″, 230 lbs) suited up for the Laval University Rouge et Or for four seasons where he was a member of the 2006 and 2008 Vanier Cup Championship-winning teams. The 28 year-old fullback also played in the 2009 East-West Bowl before being drafted 19th overall in the 2010 CFL Canadian Draft by the Hamilton Tiger-Cats. The Lacolle, QC native also suited up for the Edmonton Eskimos.
Bamba (6’1″, 195 lbs) started his college career with the North Dakota University Fighting Sioux before heading back home to join the Sherbrooke University Vert & Or where he became one of the best receivers in the CIS. There, he amassed 543 receiving yards and tallied four touchdowns on 50 catches. He was selected in the sixth-round pick (39th overall) by Saskatchewan Roughriders in the 2012 CFL Canadian draft. This will mark Bamba’s second stint with the Alouettes as he wore the team’s colours in 2013 following a short stay with the Edmonton Eskimos. The 26 year-old receiver also played in the Canadian Junior Football League (CJFL) with the St. Leonard Cougars.
The Alouettes also announced that they have released defensive tackle Greg Reid as well as defensive end David Gilbert.
