MONTREAL – In honour of International Men’s Day on November 19, the Impact’s Ignacio Piatti, the Canadiens’ Brandon Prust and the Alouettes’ Marc-Olivier Brouillette will wear the PROCURE bow tie to raise awareness about prostate cancer, which will affect 4,600 Quebec men this year.

PROCURE spokesperson and sports commentator Jean Pagé, who has been fighting prostate cancer since 20 years, co-designed the Bowvember campaign’s first bow tie with Quebec designer Luko Marion, a former competitor in the popular reality show La Collection.

Bowvember aims to raise awareness about prostate cancer, encouraging men to take the necessary measures to inform and protect themselves.

“I encourage all Quebecers to join the Bowvember movement by wearing the PROCURE bow tie on November 19 in support of the cause,” says Brandon Prust of the Montreal Canadiens.

“I am convinced that the power of social media will help spread the word about this important campaign while sensitizing men across the province about prostate cancer, which will affect one in seven men this year,” adds Marc-Olivier Brouillette of the Montreal Alouettes. “Don’t forget to share your selfies! Use #bowvember and encourage your friends to participate.”

Ignacio Piatti of the Montreal Impact reminds us of “the importance of supporting PROCURE’s mission, since it is the only organisation in Quebec dedicated to fighting prostate cancer. I am pleased to be involved with this meaningful cause, which our President Joey Saputo has been supporting for many years.”

LEADING MEN TO RAISE AWARENESS FOR THE CAUSE

Montreal Mayor Denis Coderre, Alouettes President Mark Weightman and Impact President Joey Saputo joined the campaign’s ambassadors for the official Bowvember photoshoot to show their support for the cause. Their photos are featured at bowvember.ca.

AN INSPIRING DESIGNER-CELEBRITY COLLABORATION

“The bow tie is a key item in my menswear collection, so I felt an instant connection with PROCURE’s campaign concept. I believe that the Bowvember movement will make a significant difference in the lives of men who have been diagnosed with prostate cancer,” says designer Luko Marion. The 2014 model—The Original—is the first in a series of signature bow ties, positioning this classic menswear piece as a new emblem for the cause. “As a survivor, I want to sensitize men to the importance of prostate cancer screening and prevention. I am thrilled to have had the opportunity to take part in the creation of the first PROCURE bow tie, which I will proudly wear during the month of November, especially on November 19,” says PROCURE spokesperson Jean Pagé. The PROCURE bow tie is available for $35 at bowvember.ca.
