MONTREAL – The Montreal Alouettes and CIS announced on Thursday that the popular alternative band Les Trois Accords will rock McGill’s stadium at the half of the 50th TELUS Vanier Cup on Saturday, November 29. For the first time in the National Championship’s rich history, Montreal football fans will have the opportunity to experience the annual winner take-all contest between the budding Canadian stars of tomorrow in the Quebec metropolis.
Ever since their sensational 2004 debut album Gros Mammouth Album Turbo onto the Quebec music scene, Les Trois Accordscountinue to push the boundaries of their genre. Driven by a uniquely creative blend of absurd, catchy and touching, Les Trois Accords, whose latest album is called J’aime ta grand-mère, have the tools to pump up the crowd attending the Championship game at McGill to encourage student-athletes who will compete for the highly-regarded trophy . Many other activities await fans attending this big celebration of Canadian football; pre-game barbecues will be provided for those wishing to bring their grilling game.
The two finalists for the TELUS Vanier Cup will be determined after the two National semifinals on Saturday, November 22. The University of Montreal Carabins and the University of Manitoba Bisons will square off for the Uteck Cup across Mount Royal at the CEPSUM, while the McMaster University Marauders will battle with the Mount Allison Mounties for the Mitchell Cup. Should the Carabins advance, it would mark their first participation in the National Championship. “Les Bleus” recently defeated the Laval University Rouge et Or to capture the Dunsmore Cup for the first time in their history.
Tickets for the 50th TELUS Vanier Cup can be purchased by calling 514-787-2525 or online. Ticket prices range between $20 and $73. Special rates for students also apply.
