Practice: November 21

MontrealAlouettes.com

MONTREAL – For the first time in 2014, the Alouettes practiced at McGill, refining and polishing  plays before chartering off to Hamilton for Sunday’s East Final. The wind and chill factor meant this practice was the coldest of the season, with the thermometer dropping down as low as -15 degrees. We met with Alouettes head coach Tom Higgins to get the latest on the team heading into the weekend.

Injuries and Lineup: Coach Higgins mentioned that there’s a good chance of seeing Brandon Rutley, Chris Rainey and Tyrell Sutton take part in the game on Sunday and of seeing two of the three on the starting roster. On the other hand, chances are slim of seeing James Rodgers suit up for the Eastern Final, and none of seeing Michael Klassen on the field as he is still recovering from an ankle injury.

Preparations for the cold: “The chill factor is not an issue for us, since we can wear coats on the sidelines to keep ourselves warm. However, the wind can play a crucial role in the outcome of a game, as we saw it in Hamilton two weeks ago. The Tiger-Cats were more efficient than us under these circumstances.”

What do you answer to those who say that the Tiger-Cats are the Alouettes’ kryptonite? : “In sports, any team can win when the actual game day comes; we just have to be ready. In a football game, there’s an average of 155 plays, and it consists in completing more plays than them.”
