Sherbrooke – Only 48 hours away from the intra-squad game presented by TELUS, the Montreal Alouettes were back on Coulter Field at Bishop’s University on Friday morning for a single practice, which did not lack in intensity.
Tom Higgins’ protégés gave special teams a well-deserved attention as new special teams coordinator Kavis Reed was watching on. Returners even stayed on the field following the team’s practice in order to field some punts.
That position is another one on the Alouettes roster where there is no lack of competition. James Rodgers and Chris Rainey who were with the team last season are in direct competition with newcomers like Stefan Logan, Justin Caliste, Mikhaïl Davidson and Jonathan Hefney.
Following practice, players and coaches took part in the annual headshots session for TSN, RDS and the Alouettes. Newcomers like Fred Stamps and Nik Lewis had the chance to try on their new uniforms for the first time and they look very good in their new colours.
Transactions
The Alouettes added international kicker Drew Basil (Ohio State) as well as international receiver Julian Jones (Arkansas State) to the roster, while releasing defensive tackle Scott Paxson and defensive end D.J. Roberts.
