Sherbrooke – On Monday, Montreal Alouettes players took to the Roland-Dussault Multisport Complex, one day after their intra-squad match presented by TELUS in Saint-Hubert. After a magnificent day of football for both players and fans, only one training session was scheduled, followed by team meetings in the afternoon on this ninth day of training camp.
Terrorizing opposite quarterbacks
The different battles that have been raging since the beginning of training camp have been the subject of every discussion for the past week. One particular battle lies within the depth of the defensive line, lead by coach Keith Willis. Last year’s Alouettes rookie of the year, Gabriel Knapton is experiencing a thundering training camp, making a tremendous impact on every repetition he takes part in. The defensive-end duo composed of him and veteran John Bowman will most likely be giving many opposing offences headaches throughout the season.
“John and I have an excellent relation off the field, as I do with all my other teammates,” declared Knapton after Monday’s training session. “We have a solid group and we rely on each other and make each other more efficient on the field.”
The defensive line is loaded with talent in the inside as well with the presence of Michael Klassen, Alan-Michael Cash, and Khalif Mitchell. The Alouettes front promises to be a force to be reckoned with this upcoming season.
An effective combination
The dynamic duo of Jonathan Crompton and S.J Green, which played a key role in last year’s historic comeback has no doubt returned in 2015. Since coming back to work, the chemistry between the young quarterback and the star receiver is noticeable. Green has become one of Crompton’s favorite targets. They resumed exactly where they left off last year, when Green caught three touchdown passes in the Eastern final in Hamilton.
Dan LeFevour on the field Tuesday
Forced to watch his teammates from the sideline since the beginning of training camp, quarterback Dan LeFevour was medically cleared on Monday and will be activated on Tuesday. The former Hamilton Tiger-Cats pivot will take part in his first practice in an Alouettes uniform on Tuesday morning in Sherbrooke.
Rapid Fire
Linebacker Nicolas Boulay realized an outstanding interception in Monday’s training session. Boulay appeared comfortable throughout practice, just like he has since the beginning of camp… Defensive back Dominic Clarke also impressed the coaching staff making one interception, his first of camp… Tanner Marsh did not complete practice, as he injured himself after his landing following a throw. He will undergo further testing in the next hours.
A first test expected
The Alouettes will finally get to play against players from another team when they face the Ottawa REDBLACKS at Stade TELUS-Université Laval in Quebec City during the team’s initial preseason game starting Saturday at 7:30 p.m. This will be a first real test for Tom Higgins’ players. RDS will broadcast the game.

The 2015 Alouettes’ Training Camp will resume tomorrow at Coulter Field, as the team will take part in back-to-back training sessions beginning at 7:50 a.m. There is a good chance the team will practice indoors at the Roland-Dussault Multisport Complex.
