Earlier today, Montreal Alouettes’ President and Chief Executive Officer Mark Weightman was named honorary colonel of the 425th Squadron located at Canadian Forces Base Bagotville. Mr. Weightman succeeds Jim Killin.
The 425th Squadron has a special place in the heart of the Alouettes’ organization, as the squadron’s nickname is, in fact, “Alouette,” and is the origin of the football team’s name. The Alouettes debuted their signature uniform in honour of the 425th Squadron in 2014.
A few hundred Canadian military personnel will be in attendance for the Alouettes home game on October 18 against the Hamilton Tiger-Cats. Two CF-18s will conduct a flyover of McGill’s Stadium to celebrate this occasion.
