Regina – Despite good plays made by the Alouettes, the Saskatchewan Roughriders earn the victory by the score of 33-21.
After first half, QB Jonathan Crompton ended with eight completions on 19 attempts for 97 yards and two interceptions. The defense had a good second quarter as they allowed only a field goal.
In the second quarter, Jerome Messam fumble the ball and Marc-Olivier Brouillette recover the ball to send the Alouettes’ offensive unit on the field.
On the second half, Jim Popp decide to put Rakeem Cato on the field.
The Alouettes would reach the endzone in the fourth quarter, as short-yardage pivot Tanner Marsh scored on a one-yard sneak up the middle. The score was Marsh’s third on the ground this season. Cato would convert the ensuing two-point attempt to make the score 30-13 in favour of the Riders.
The score was made possible by a bizarre play that saw Cato’s pass intercepted by John Chick, who was then stripped of possession by Cato who ran for a big gain and also from a huge performance of Nik Lewis with 86 yards for this game.
Cato ended the afternoon with 100 yards and two interceptions on seven completions. On the defensive side, John Bowman ended the game with another sack which brings the total to 92.
The Montreal Alouettes will play their next game in Ottawa against the Ottawa REDBLACKS. The next home game will be on October 12 against the Toronto Argonauts.
