Montreal – Opération Enfant Soleil is pleased and proud to launch its team of sports ambassadors who will support its mission by helping to improve paediatric care in Quebec. Several top athletes, led by two committed “captains”—Étienne Boulay (a former Montreal Alouettes player) and Josée Lavigueur (a reporter for TVA)—have signed on and will be collaborating on various sports activities and fundraisers for Opération Enfant Soleil.
Josée, an iconic figure in the field of health care in Quebec, has been a faithful facilitator for the organization for over 10 years: “I’m so proud to be part of this big family. Health begins with physical fitness. These athletes joining Opération Enfant Soleil is a great example for our youth.”
As for Étienne, he’ll be a rookie on the next Telethon’s hosting team: “It’s a real pleasure and an honour for me to join Opération Enfant Soleil. We, the sports ambassadors, want to make a real difference for children in Quebec.”
A big-hearted team
The group of athletes is currently made up of short-track speed skating Olympic medalists Charles Hamelin and Marianne St-Gelais, Kansas City Chiefs (NFL) offensive lineman Laurent Duvernay-Tardif, Canadian women’s hockey team captain Marie-Philip Poulin, and Olympic kayaker and speaker Hugues Fournel. This already diverse and close-knit team will have more big names joining it in the coming months.
An inaugural event with the Alouettes
To mark the arrival of the sports ambassadors in its big family, Opération Enfant Soleil will hold a benefit game with the Montreal Alouettes on Monday, October 12, Thanksgiving Day. Tickets are available at a reduced price of $30, $5 of which will be donated to Opération Enfant Soleil.
Purchase your tickets today on Ticketmaster using promotional code OES2015 and come share a fun day with some of our sports ambassadors while helping adapt care to the needs of children.
You can also donate via text message
For Opération Enfant Soleil supporters who can’t attend the game between the Alouettes and the Toronto Argonauts, here’s a simple, quick and original way of donating: between now and October 12, text Enfant ($10 donation) or Soleil ($20 donation) to 20222 and make a real difference for children in Quebec.
