Montreal – The Montreal Alouettes announced on Tuesday that Greg Quick is returning to the organization and has signed on as the team’s linebackers’ coach.
Quick occupied the same position with the team in 2014. That year, he saw his protégé Bear Woods amass an impressive total of 89 defensive tackles, including seven sacks, in only 12 games, which resulted in him being the finalist for the CFL’s Most Outstanding Defensive Player as well as being selected a CFL All Star. That season, the Alouettes defence led the League with 48 turnovers.
This past season, Quick was the Saskatchewan Roughriders’ defensive coordinator, which saw rookie linebacker Jeff Know Jr. get the nod as the team’s most outstanding rookie, defensive player and player following a season where he collected a team-high 114 defensive tackles, which was good for second place in the CFL.
Quick, who has been coaching since 1979, spent the 2010 and 2011 seasons as the Toronto Argonauts’ linebackers coach.
