Toujours game. In the rain, ice storms, snow or scorching heat. In Montreal, we are game. Toujours game.
In addition to being willing to play anywhere, anytime and in any conditions, we are constantly searching for ways to raise the bar and offer you the best pro sports experience in town. This year, we’re starting a revolution by introducing ten new features that will allow all our fans, even the die-hard fans, to discover the team in a whole new light.
Here they are:
- A team that is nearly 50% new
The leaders we can count on – Luc Brodeur-Jourdain, John Bowman, Tyrell Sutton, Stef Logan, etc. – are back, thankfully, but you’ll see a lot of fresh faces sporting the Als uniform this year.
Remember, the first point of Kavis Reed’s 10-step plan was to hire high-character players. You only have to hear Henoc Muamba, Jamaal Westerman or Mitchell White once (or, even better, watch them play) to know that the goal was attained. They didn’t come here to rest. They came to bring back the winning culture in Montreal. It doesn’t get more game than that.
“It’s a challenge and an opportunity for anyone to take something that wasn’t performing and make it work. I’m really excited! We have such a great chemistry on defence that we can skip the small talk and just play ball. Honestly, we don’t want anyone to catch balls this season.” – Mitchell White, Defensive Back
Inspired by our southern neighbours, we have decided to celebrate a new tradition at the stadium. Friday night games, starting on June 22, will be the absolute best way to kick off your weekend: $7 Budweiser beer all game long, musicians in the concourses, animations in various sections and much, much more are on the menu.
- Acrobatic Cheerleading
Season after season, our cheerleaders continue to wow us. This year, in addition to the returning dance troop, a group of bases and flyers, men and women, will be on the field to dazzle you with their stunts. It’s refreshing, breathtaking and of present interesting considering cheerleading has been the fastest growing sport in Quebec for a few years.
- Options for Food Lovers AKA Everyone
The game day experience primarly relies on the value of the product. Thanks to La Cage sur la Route All-You-Can-Eat section and the BBQ Québec Terrace, you can now get more bang for your buck than ever before.
All-You-Can-Eat: in collaboration with La Cage brasserie sportive, we are offering you everything you ever wanted: as much food as your stomach can take. Get your ticket, we’ll get you the food!
BBQ Terrace: let the BBQ Québec experts whip you up the best grilled foods you have EVER had as you are watching the action.
- The Great Budweiser Bier Garden
The West end zone has been given a whole new look. Go check it out starting an hour and a half before kickoff to enjoy the 40 feet bar. You read that right. It might just be the longest bar in the province.
- More Food Options (it is Montreal, after all)
The food truck fad had to make its way to the stadium. In addition to the Poutine Truck that had already settled in the North concourse last season, the following food trucks will make their menus available to fans starting June 22.
North concourse:
Dic Ann’s, Beaver Tails, Mr. Wilson Ice Cream
South concourse:
La Cage brasserie sportive, Mr. Wilson Ice Cream
Ideal for a student’s budget, the General Admission section is likely to become one of the liveliest spots at the stadium. Located at the 15-yard line, it includes seats for as low at $29 per game or $20 for students.
- Welcoming voices
Games will be hosted by energetic Alexandre Pelletier (whom you already know) as well as vibrant Marie-Ève Sauvé, ex Alouettes cheerleader, and announced by our new home announcer Éric Gaudette. A cool trio that should hype up the crowd!
- A Leap in Technology
Sure, we play in a historic stadium, but it doesn’t keep us from wanting to innovate from a tech standpoint. In 2018, we are offering all our members a brand new card equipped with RFID technology, allowing stadium access and providing a simple way to make purchases at food stands. A first in the Montreal sports world!
A screen was also added in the West end zone and an in-seat service will be offered in most sections. Of course, TELUS’ info and charging stations are back to help you in time of need/despair because your phone battery is dead.
- The Remembrance Walk
Overall, you’ll notice that the stadium looks different. The colour coordination of banners and posters should catch your eye. Make sure you take a stroll in the North concourse to learn more about our team’s rich history thanks to the Remembrance Walk. The team has come a long way since 1946!
