75 years of history in 10 milestones

1

The fewest points scored in an Alouettes game. On October 30th, 1966, the Alouettes defeated the Ottawa Rough Riders 1-0 at Percival Molson Memorial Stadium. The game’s lone point came late in the fourth quarter…after 56 minutes of play!

The Alouettes have won 7 Grey Cups over their 75 years of existence. That’s an average of one cup every 10 years…so it’s time for our eighth Grey Cup now!

18

The Alouettes have reached a Grey Cup game a total of 18 times since 1946. Edmonton’s football team is our bugbear…they’ve defeated us 8 times in the finals!

25

25 head coaches have led our birds since the inception of the team. Lew Hayman is the coach having spent the most time in this position, with a total of 6 seasons. He is closely followed by Marv Levy, Don Matthews, and Marc Trestman, who have been at the helm of the team for 5 seasons each. Fun fact, these four head coaches have all won a Grey Cup with the Alouettes!

33

33 Alouettes have been inducted into the prestigious Canadian Football Hall Fame: 26 of them in the Player category and 7 of them in the Builder category.

105

The club played 105 games in a sold-out stadium between 2000 and 2011.

2,065

Mike Pringle is the first, and so far only man in CFL history to run for over 2,065 yards in a single season.

22,732

22,732 points were gained in 65 regular seasons (4 of them with the team bearing the name Les Concordes). 2008 was the team’s best year, ending the season with a total of 610 points thanks to their incredible offensive unit (an average of 33 points per game!)

68,505

The biggest crowd for a home game in Alouettes history. 68,505 spectators gathered at the Olympic Stadium on September 26, 1976, shortly after the end of the Olympic Games, to watch our team’s first battle at the stadium! The frenzied fans got to witness an exciting 23-2 win against Ottawa.

79,816

That’s the number of passing yards accumulated by former Alouettes star quarterback Anthony Calvillo (who also holds the franchise record for most games played). On December 20, 2020, Drew Brees passed Anthony Calvillo to become the all-time passing yards leader in professional football history, with 79,846.
