Stanback, Lewis and Wieneke

Montreal, December 15, 2021 – The Canadian Football League announced on Wednesday its 2021 CFL All-Stars, on which three players from the Montreal Alouettes were selected, as running back William Stanback and receivers Eugene Lewis and Jake Wieneke received the nod.

William Stanback – Running back (2nd selection)
CFL All Star: 2019, 2021

Stanback received his second nomination in 2021, as he concluded the season atop many categories, including rushing yards as his 1,176 yards put him more than 300 yards ahead of his closest competitor, who played one more game than him. His 1,290 yards from scrimmage are also best in the CFL, as are his 193 carries, his 6.1-yard average per carry and his six games with more than 100 rushing yards. He also scored three rushing touchdowns.

Eugene Lewis – Wide Receiver (1st selection)
CFL All Star: 2019, 2021

Lewis continued to multiply spectacular and important catches throughout 2021, as he completed the season in third place in the CFL with 964 receiving yards on 62 receptions, on top of scoring nine touchdowns. The 28-year-old maintained his level of play throughout the season, even if three different starting quarterbacks threw him passes. He also threw a 35-yard pass on a trick play.

Jake Winieke – Wide Receiver (1st selection)
CFL All Star: 2021

Wieneke rightfully earned the nickname “Touchdown Jake” in 2021, as he finished atop the CFL with 11 receiving touchdowns. In his second season North of the border, the 27-year-old completed the season with 898 receiving yards on 56 catches, good for fifth in the CFL. His 15.1 yard average per catch also put him fifth in the League.
