Training Camp Report – Day 1
Trois-Rivières, May 14, 2023 – The Montreal Alouettes started their 2023 training camp, presented by the Salon de jeux de Trois-Rivières this afternoon. This is the second consecutive season that the team is holding camp in the Mauricie Region.
A hundred players jumped on the field at Diablos Stadium with many fans in attendance.
The owner of the team, Mr. Pierre Karl Péladeau, attended the practice with his family. He took the time to fraternize with Head Coach Jason Maas, members of the front office and some players. He had a smile on his face, happy to see his club in action.
It was the first practice for new head coach Jason Maas, who joined the team last December. Quarterback Cody Fajardo, who signed a contract with the team in February, was also slinging passes for the first time as an Alouette.
“I liked the energy of the guys, there was a good rhythm and I’m pleased with what I saw. We just broke the ice and I expect the intensity to increase day by day. It’s encouraging to see a team with a lot of talent,” said Alouettes Head Coach Jason Maas.
For his part, Fajardo looks like he’s in great shape, as he was able to throw the ball with accuracy all over the field.
“It’s fun to get familiar with a new group,” Fajardo said. “The guys seemed to be in good spirits and happy to finally be back on the field. I feel good and was happy to see how things went for a first practice. There were quite a few fans in the stands and they gave us a good dose of energy. We feel welcome here in Trois-Rivières”.
The team also announced that these three players were placed on the six-game injured list:
Sean Jamieson, (OL), Western (knee)
Reggie White Jr., (WR), Southeastern Oklahoma State, (knee)
Raheem Wilson, (DB), Monmouth, (knee)
The Alouettes have also placed the following players on the suspended list:
