Preview: Alouettes look to push win streak to 8 on Friday night
The Montreal Alouettes will be looking to rattle off their eighth consecutive win on Friday night as they travel to Winnipeg to take on the Blue Bombers at 8:30 p.m. ET. A victory this week would allow this team to tie the franchise record for most consecutive wins in one season (they won eight in a row in 2002).
This will be the first of two matchups against the Bombers in the second half of the year. Winnipeg will be coming to Montreal on Oct. 3.
Road Warrior at QB:
Davis Alexander is the leader in the club house when it comes to the M.O.P. race right now. The Als’ starting pivot leads all quarterbacks in passing yards heading into this week, with 3,400. He’s also tossed 20 touchdowns and just two interceptions so far in 2026.
The 27-year-old has been incredible on the road this year.

Week 1 at Hamilton: 336 passing yards, two touchdowns, 0 interceptions
Week 3 at Edmonton:356 passing yards, one touchdown, 0 interceptions

Week 9 at Ottawa: 420 passing yards, three touchdowns, 0 interceptions
In all, that’s 1,514 passing yards, 9 TDs and 0 picks. Those numbers are totally bonkers.
Great RB battle:
Two of the best running backs in the league will be on the field on Friday night. Bombers’ tailback Brady Oliveira leads the CFL in rushing, with 850 yards on the ground. Als running back Travis Theis is third at 788 yards.
Oliveira didn’t practice all week due to an ankle injury, but he’ll get the start on Friday night.
Theis has rushed for at least 88 yards in five of his last six outings. He leads all running backs in average yards per attempt (minimum 74 carries).
Heading into this week, the Bombers own the worst run defence in the CFL. They’re currently allowing 127.9 yards on the ground.
Injuries:
Veteran offensive lineman Justin Lawrence will make his return to the lineup. He suffered an injury back in Week 1 against the Hamilton Tiger-Cats. Lawrence will serve as the sixth lineman on Friday.
Long-snapper Louis-Philippe Bourassa is a game-time decision for this game.
Clinching scenarios:
A win over Winnipeg on Friday night combined with a Tiger-Cats loss in Calgary on Saturday would guarantee the Alouettes a home playoff game this year.
The Als would also clinch a playoff spot if all four East Division teams win this week.
