Jason Maas

Head Coach

Jason Maas became the 27th head coach in team history in December 2022. In 2024, he led the Alouettes to the best record in the CFL (12-5-1), securing their first East Division title since 2012. He was named the CFL’s coach of the year that season. The team finished first overall in the standings, which is something they hadn’t done since 2009.

In his first season as head coach in 2023, he guided the team to their eighth Grey Cup championship, ending the campaign with eight consecutive wins—five in the regular season and three in the playoffs.

He had previously served as the head coach in Edmonton from 2016 to 2019, making the playoffs three times in his four seasons.

Maas played as a quarterback in the CFL for 10 years, between 2000 and 2010. He spent much of that time alongside Danny Maciocia, who was his offensive coordinator and later head coach with the Edmonton Eskimos. Maas also served as the backup quarterback for the Alouettes in 2007.

Jason Maas began his coaching career in 2012 as the quarterbacks coach for the Toronto Argonauts, where he coached for three seasons and won the Grey Cup in his first year. He then became the offensive coordinator for the Ottawa REDBLACKS in 2015. He was also the offensive coordinator of the Saskatchewan Roughriders from 2020 to 2022.
